March Field Report

Findings about schools in Meru County, Kenya

This report by Velma Kiende, our Kenan director, outlines on the needs of two schools in the town of Mikinduri, Meru County, Kenya. The primary findings are that basic and advanced supplies, along with more teachers are needed. We are currently focused on basic resources and determining how best to allocate these resources.

Addressing Child Abuse

In rare cases we are able to address and respond to cases of child abuse and provide immediate needs. One such example is of a child with difficulties who was abused, abandoned, and malnourished. We were able to provide immediate access to food and diapers, ensure the child was removed to a safe place as well as escalating to local police and childcare officers to have the child placed in a permanent home.
